Walking has been essential for brothers Karl and Khim Mata Hipol to familiarize themselves with and continuously learn about their new homeland. In 2015, the two artists, their older brother, and their father, immigrated to Canada from the Philippines and have since finished art degrees and begun their respective art practices in North Vancouver.
The photos the two artists created for ‘Walking to Know the Land’ reflect on their experience as immigrants on colonized land. Join the brothers on September 9th to hear about their perspectives, their art practice, and their fresh and innovative understanding of Landscape and Nature photography. This event is free to attend/by donation.
