The Burnaby Summer Theatre Program has been running for over 25 years. Each year, a group of emerging artists create a free, all ages, and outdoor original show that they perform throughout Burnaby. Generously presented by Beedie for 2024, these accessible performances work to break down the barriers and allows people from all walks of life to witness the magic of live theatre.
The Program funded by Canada Summer Jobs employs young theatre artists as actors and stage managers to produce and perform outdoor performances in parks and libraries around Burnaby. For 2024, the Burnaby Arts Council is pleased to play host to following artists.

Artist Biographies
Jasmine Provins has been involved in the theatre arts for over ten years and is honoured to be a part of this year’s BAC Summer Theatre Program. A multimedia artist at heart, Jasmine has written, acted in, and directed several on-stage and on-screen projects and boasts a massive portfolio as a seasoned illustrator and painter… she’s even dabbled in music! Her deep passion for storytelling in its many forms has led her to her current role as Stage Manager, and she’s absolutely thrilled to be a part of the magic that this year’s talented team of actors is creating. She currently lives and creates on the stolen lands of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
Babaloluwa (Lolu) Oyedele is a Nigeria-born, South-Africa raised interdisciplinary artist, performer and writer. He has a BFA in Interdisciplinary Performance from UBC Okanagan and most recently had the pleasure of being Coquitlam Heritage’s Artist in Residence, culminating in the creation of The Porter’s Revival, a performance about the serendipitous meeting between the ghost of a black sleeping car porter and a young artist. Babaloluwa has also collaborated with various theatre companies in the Okanagan, including acting for Little Mountain Lion Productions on 27 Stories Written by Kids as well as being a member of Pacific Theatre’s Working With writing cohort. He is currently working and living in the unceded territory of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, otherwise known as Vancouver, B.C.
Meet Emerson Cleary, a visual chameleon and unconventional storyteller who marches to the (off)beat of their own drum. Like any self-respecting performer, he’s got one goal in mind: to make the world believe he knows what he’s doing, even when he hasn’t got a clue. When he’s not defying your expectations, you can find him practicing juggling his many side projects that involve something equally as absurd. Through his boisterous expression and theatrical flair, Emerson aims to showcase the wonders that come with being unapologetically yourself… through the irony of becoming something else entirely. If you can endure the unusual, unexpected and unbelievably stupid, he’ll leave you with an experience that is truly unforgettable.
Nathan Doll has always been interested in art and acting. Beginning when he was 6 years old, his interests expanded to film, costuming, makeup, and writing. Now Nathan studies Hospitality at Douglas college in hopes to open his own flexible studio space where he can start to put on his own shows.
