Canada Summer Jobs: Our Summer Theatre Program!

Our yearly Summer Theatre Program is returning in June! Work in a dynamic group to produce and perform a play, touring Burnaby Parks this summer!

Positions

We are assembling a team consisting of one Theatre Stage Manager and three Theatre Actors.

Theatre Stage Manager:

The ensemble of 3 performers and Stage Manager, will develop, creatively produce and perform a family oriented outdoor touring production for parks in Burnaby. As a Stage Manager, you will become project manager to the summer theatre production. On a daily basis, you will oversee the execution of the team’s creative vision by providing notes and preparing rehearsal reports, while overseeing progress on a set project timeline. You will also manage daily administration from managing a budget, sourcing props and costumes, developing a marketing strategy, and scheduling meetings, rehearsal, and other team activities. The Stage Manager will be responsible for weekly updates to the BAC Executive Director.

Theatre Actor:

As an actor, you will produce a summer theatre production from start to finish. Daily tasks will involve stage production, writing, and scheduling meetings, rehearsals, and other team activities. The team will create a project schedule and are expected to provide a completed production for performance that will tour Metro Vancouver from June to August. These activities will be led by a Stage Manager to oversee deadlines, task completion, and manage administration. Each team member will be expected to demonstrate leadership and teamwork, allocate tasks as a group, and maintain accountability among each other.

  • Anticipated Start Date: 2024-05-30
  • 30 hours per week, for 9 weeks
  • Hourly wage: $19
  • Must be under 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment*
  • Must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Fluent in the English language
  • Post-Secondary education
