The First Night
First Night was the first New Years Eve celebration outside of Vancouver. This family-friendly event took place at Brentwood mall, featuring amazing performers and artists. Three-generation groups (grandparents, parents, and children) were abundant and gathered together to ring in the new year!
The silver anniversary of SFU
Can you believe, in 1990, SFU celebrated its 25th anniversary? In this silver year, the first art gallery at SFU was proposed and they finally erected an official sign located on the corner of Lougheed & Gaglardi!
Katie Tsoukalas, the youngest member
She was the only student-age member to apply, Katie Tsoukalas brought the youth perspective to Burnaby’s new visual arts advisory board. Her goal was to create a welcoming space for kids in art galleries and subvert the traditional, rigid structures.
