For the leadership in helping save a rare wooden carousel for future generations in March 1990, in April 1991, Don Wrigley received the Kushiro Cup. The Kushiro Cup is a token of goodwill from Burnaby`s sister city Kushiro, Japan.

In April, 1991 the “Metro Seniors Band” was a Burnaby-based band which called their particular brand of music the “older familiar type”. More than 550 numbers filled their play-chart – something for everyone.
The “Metro Seniors` Band”, probably the most experienced group in the Lower Mainland with a combined 500 years of experiences.
