Artists are invited to submit original works for “The Art of Craft.” This exhibition will be held at the Deer Lake Art Gallery from November 27th – December 18th, 2021. The call is open to all artisans and crafters residing in Burnaby and metro-Vancouver. We invite submissions from artists, artisans and crafters working in any craft media including weaving, quilting, carving, pottery, textiles, glass, and jewelry.

The difference between art and craft is often explained as art relies on visual artistic merit, while craft is focused on skills, technique, and the utilitarian nature of a piece. But there is an undeniable artistry that goes into all crafting methods. The goal of this exhibition is to showcase the artistic nature of pieces that are traditionally thought of as craft.

Submission Deadline: Friday, September 17, 2021
