The Burnaby Arts Council (BAC) is currently looking for an Installation Assistant to add to our team of volunteers. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has prior gallery experience and/or is interested in gaining skills in visual art exhibit preparation and installation.


  • Hanging artworks, adjusting lighting, moving plinths
  • Make accurate design decisions about displaying artworks
  • Assist with labelling and mounting didactic material
  • Ensure that overall exhibit looks appealing and professional¬†
  • Painting (only occasionally)

Desired Skills:

  • Previous installation experience is an asset; familiar with hanging system installation
  • Detail oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and creativity
  • Good eye for design
  • Comfort with heights
  • Interest or background in operations of Art Gallery exhibitions

Time Commitment:

  • On average 3-4 hours per month (time commitment is variable depending on schedule of exhibitions and number of works to be installed)
