Group exhibition featuring:
Corey Jennifer Hardeman and Sean O’Flynn
Diffusion is a group exhibition that will be held at The Deer Lake Gallery featuring the work of Carolyn Kramer, Corey Jennifer Hardeman and Sean O’Flynn. Diffusion is hosted and organized by The Burnaby Arts Council. The exhibition will open Saturday September 10th, 2016 and run until October 1st.
Diffusion represents the subconscious dispersion of impressions and ideas by the 3 artists who participate in this exhibition. Through a radically singular approach that is well known in contemporary debate, all use references and ideas that are so integrated into the process of the work that they may escape those who do not take the time to explore how and why these images haunt you, like a good film, long after you’ve seen them. The intention of the work is highly personal but don’t reference recognisable form. The results are deconstructed to the extent that meaning is shifted and possible interpretation becomes multifaceted. There mixed media artworks never show the complete structure. This results in the fact that the artist can easily imagine their own interpretation without being hindered by the historical reality. O’Flynn’s work is an implosion of colour which allows the viewer intimate access to emotions expressed in the work. Kramer’s work is a more subtle dispersement of colour. They originate from microscopic photographs or sketches that she extols into dramatic and serene works of singular beauty. Hardeman uses her paintings as documented moments in time rendered in oil paint; they are the remnants of her experience of bereavement. They have a unique beauty of an almost transcendent quality. As the viewer receives the full impact of their celebration of life in its purest form they will embraced by their colour, textures and designs.
Please join us for the opening reception of Diffusion that will be held September 10th, 2016 between 2-4pm at the Deer Lake Gallery.
