2020 Deer Lake Craft Festival – UPDATE
The Burnaby Arts Council has decided to cancel the Deer Lake Craft Festival that was scheduled to take place this November 2020. We know that this has been a challenging year for small businesses and the arts, and to be unable to host the festival leaves us heartbroken.
Since July, we have been exploring different options and closely monitoring health conditions in BC. But there is too much uncertainty to plan for a large event this winter. As an event that attracted ~4,000 people throughout one weekend, the safety of event guests, staff & volunteers, and vendors, are a priority. In the most recent Provincial Health Order Christmas craft markets are defined as an event. Planning for a market with a significantly reduced capacity, and in alignment with current health guidelines makes it impossible to hold an event that is inclusive, accessible and financially feasible.
This was a difficult decision to make, and we understand your disappointment. But we will be back in the future. If you would like to stay connected with the artisans please visit our directory of all participating vendors. Many of them will still be selling handmade products throughout the holiday season, so do consider supporting your local business and purchasing them! They make wonderful and thoughtful gifts in any season.
The world has changed a lot in the past year, and we’re gradually learning to adapt. While this year will be a quiet one, we look forward to returning in the future.
In the meantime, do please check out our Artisan Directory at the link below and consider supporting your local businesses!
We’re also planning something exciting later this winter in place of a festival, so stay tuned for updates!

This festival event is a ONE stop Christmas shopping extravaganza!
We have OVER 60+ artisans, including glass blowers, sculptors, potters, wood, fashion, and jewelry designers, plus many more new artists participating! There will also be a great selection of seasonal foodstuffs such as chocolates, mixed spices, Christmas cakes, cookies, jams, jellies, chutneys, and even designer honey.
